Rob Sepanak
Artist

Born in 1965 in New Jersey, wildlife artist Robert Sepanak has resided in the countryside of Northeast Pennsylvania for over 22 years. He has worked for a national children's magazine, Highlights for Children, as well as other children's publications on both a full-time and free-lance basis. His artwork has appeared in numerous books and magazines.
From an early age, his affinity for the outdoors and desire to sketch seemed to go hand in hand. It wasn't until 1990, with no formal art training, that he began to paint wildlife, first in watercolors, then oils before finally setting on acrylics. These days instead of paper &  pencil, Rob carries a camera. An amateur photographer, he collects all his own reference material... time, lighting, weather and subject permitting.
Unlike most paintings which are best viewed a few steps back, Rob's beckon for a closer look to fully appreciate the attention to detail he puts into each.
Robert has recently started to issue limited edition prints of some of his paintings. One of his future goals is to have his work chosen for a Federal Waterfowl stamp.

                           Artist Statement
"
I consider myself a wildlife painter who specializes in birds. The variety, colors & vastly different habitats should keep me busy for years. I try to learn something with each painting, a new technique or perhaps just a better way to do what I know. My subjects are everywhere, portraying different dramas, stories and moods. To me, my paintings are moments in nature, frozen in time."

Rob's work will be displayed through October at the South Street Gallery.
