Trix Render
was originally from South Africa, moved from NY and then on to Damascus Pennsylvania after 9/11. She started painting in 1999
after a visit to South Africa. She is self-taught and work in oils, watercolor and ink.
Trix takes her inspiration
from nature, her work normally involves quirky birds and animals that she has encountered in the woods. Many of Trix Render's dream-like, metaphorical paintings
draw from images and experiences of her childhood in the vast Orange Free State region of South Africa, where as Trix says,
"it was so flat you could see tomorrow yesterday."
A lover of birds, animals and nature, she paints detailed, primitivistic,
haunting images of pets and woodland flora and fauna, which capture the dignity, violence, pathos, and beauty of lives lived
twice or fifty times faster than our own...
Trix and her husband Philip (a photographer), are currently renovating a building at 118 Willow
Ave in Honesdale, They will be opening the Willow River Gallery in Spring 2008.
Trix accepts
commissions, participates in many shows and the yearly studio tour by the Wayne County Arts Alliance.
Trix's
work will be displayed through December at the South Street Gallery
